David Attenborough is to present a new five episode series about the wildlife in the UK.

It is co produced by The Open University, the RSPB, and WWF, and it was filmed over three years. It is currently called Wild Isles, but that may change once it is aired. There is no confirmed release date yet.

They are using the latest technology to record new behaviour not previously seen.

Even though David Attenborough has spent around 70 of his 96 years travelling the world to film and document wildlife, he is still amazed to see animal drama and spectacle when he films.

The five part series will explain why Britain and Ireland are globally important for nature and show the four key habitats they have to offer. The habitats are woodlands, grasslands, fresh water and marine.

Britain and Ireland have more ancient oak trees than the rest of Europe put together; sixty percent of the world’s chalk streams flow in southern England. The flower meadows are a vital refuge for breeding birds and butterflies; and the coasts are home to internationally important numbers of seabirds.
The series explains the challenges nature faces today, and what can be done to make our wild isles even wilder in the future.

The series will be packed with new behaviour filmed all around the country.
The series will be shot at 4K resolution allowing for an ultra-high definition television delivery.
