Kids Around Dogs launches a new course

Kids Around Dogs® (KAD)Launches New Online Course: “Working with Neurodivergent Kids and Their Dogs”

Kids Around Dogs® (KAD), a renowned organisation dedicated to fostering positive relationships between children and dogs, is thrilled to announce the launch of its groundbreaking online course, "Working with Neurodivergent Kids and Their Dogs."

This innovative program is designed to empower families, educators, and dog professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to support neurodivergent children as they interact with their canine companions.

In recent years, the understanding of neurodiversity has expanded, revealing the unique ways in which children perceive and engage with the world. Dogs can play a significant role in helping neurodivergent kids develop social skills, emotional regulation, and a sense of companionship.

However, the dynamic between neurodivergent children and their dogs can sometimes present unique challenges. “Working with Neurodivergent Kids and Their Dogs” combines expert guidance with practical strategies to help caregivers and professionals create positive, enriching experiences for both children and dogs.

The course covers essential topics including:
- Understanding neurodiversity and its impact on child-dog interactions
- Tailoring training techniques to suit individual needs
- Building effective communication skills between kids and their dogs
- Helping dogs to be therapeutic companions for social and emotional development
- Ensuring safe and enjoyable playtime for both children and pets

Led by a team of experienced educators, dog trainers, and child psychologists, the course offers a blend of video lessons, interactive exercises, and downloadable resources.
Participants will be equipped with actionable skills to foster deeper connections between neurodivergent children and their canine friends.

'Our mission at Kids Around Dogs is to promote healthy and positive relationships between children and dogs, especially for those who may face additional challenges,' said Debby Lucken, Dog behaviourist and founder of Kids Around Dogs. “This course is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to support neurodivergent kids in their journey with dogs. We believe that every child deserves the joy and companionship a dog can offer.”

The course is now available for enrollment on the Kids Around Dogs website. Educators and dog professionals are encouraged to sign up and take the first step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for neurodivergent children and their dogs.
