The Capers of Cilla
- August 2025

Hola my fellow busy animals.
This month Elaine decided I had far too much energy (lucky me!) so I got to visit new places. Asi que this month I went to my first forest! Muy bien Cilla. Parkhurst Forest is very close to us and just past the infamous prison.

The forest is 395 hectares of woodland to the north-west of Newport, Isle of Wight. It consists of ancient woodland, relict heathland and plantation woodland and is the second largest forest on the island. It's a haven for wildlife including the red squirrel and many species of bird such as the nightjar and long eared owl. We didn't see any squirrels but we often see them in our local park so we weren't too disappointed. Red squirrels blend very well with trees and are very small so pretty hard to spot. Red squirrel is ardilla roja in my native bark.

Anyway I had a lot of fun sniffing around and it was lovely and shady in the cool. Elaine said I wasn't allowed fully off the lead so I had to suffer the long line, not that I really mind but don't tell her that bol. I also managed a cheeky roll in a leaf pile which was muy fun, I was very dusty and smelly. A smell I like, not the usual lavender doggy perfume that Elaine chases me around the house with. Heehee. Right, time to bark out of the window at a scooter, keep rolling in dust amigos.
