The Capers of Cilla
- November 2025
Hola de Espana!
Well back to the Isle of Wight but via Spain. I'd been in France and we headed south past Biarritz towards the province of Navarre and a little town called Tafalla. It had free motorhome parking so was perfecto for a night. It was a very quiet town but we found a local bar and some nice folk who were delighted to meet a Spanish dog... they see them everyday haha. Anyway from there we drove our way across country stopping at little towns and villages close to the main roads. Most felt like ghost towns as we wandered around the shuttered houses and closed shops. Where was everyone?!
It couldn't have been more different in our furthest stop for a couple of weeks, the metropolis that is Benidorm. Home to many Brits, Dutch and Belgians, but luckily Spanish too. In fact the campsite, bar and local shop were all very Spanish and rightly so. Muy bien. It was, however, super hot, far more than normal at 35 degrees each day and a possible sign of global warming. Luckily we have aircon and Elaine took me out early every morning to the pipican dog park. Apparently in the summer months you get fined for taking your dog out in the middle of the day, can you imagine? Que malo. After 'the Dorm' we headed back via more random village and friends in Pamplona which is always very special.
Right off to dream of huge pipicans full of friendly dogs and a free tortilla snack cafe.
Bueno Cills x
Good capers: Aircon, dog parks aka pipicans, tortillas
Bad capers: hot weather, tortilla with onion as I am not allowed them
