The Capers of Cilla
- August 2026
Hola pals.
Well hasn't it been scorchio my amigos, so very hot! Down here on the Isle of Wight it's thankfully a bit cooler than the cities but it was still over 30 degrees for days. We've barely seen rain in weeks and it's still hot as I type my paws. Luckily for me my Spanish genes have helped but I've still avoided the sunshine, acquired a fan from Elaine and have been wearing my Tigger cooling bandana (I say wearing it, more like playing with it when Elaine has frozen it, muy bien Cilla)
So walks were early in the day, mainly in the shade and evening paddles at the beach. I've actually quite enjoyed it bar the lack of other dogs. Normally Cowes and the island is choca full of furry amigos but everyone was in hiding so I really missed out on bitey face games and general zoomies. It's not so much fun being an only pupster when it's hot!
One of the shadiest places I can go is Parkhurst Forest, apparently it's one of the oldest forests in the country and Elaine is convinced it's haunted! Needless to say we stick to the paths and take a tracker with us, it's really quite easy to get lost amongst all the trees. There are red squirrels, lots of birds and thankfully no deer to chase (boo) but horse poo to sniff so maybe one day I'll see a horse.
Right toodle pip my hotdogs, I'm off to dream of running with horses.....
Good capers: jumping logs, drinking stagnant water, barking at picnics
Bad capers: horse poo, eating horse poo, rolling in horse poo (which by rights are good capers)
