Hey pals,
friends of mine on social media, and in the fur, will already now that I've enjoyed my last adventure and joined my old friends over the rainbow bridge.
Elaine is devastated but held me as I fell asleep, I wanted to sleep and puffed my cheeks happily as I've always done. I was nearly 15, with all my own teeth still and a happy smile. My legs, and shoulders, however, were letting me down and thankfully it was all very much in my last few days.
What a life my pals..... I did it all!
The most important adventure was my first being rescued, was I born on the street or inside? No one is sure, but I found myself being driven across Ireland to Brighton in 2010 aged just 4 months. Elaine came along the minute she got the call and the rest is history.
A rich history of travelling, pet therapy work, dog walks, beaches and all round shenanigans. I loved life and lived it to the full.
I'd lived in 2 houses in Brighton and spent almost 2 years in total in our motorhome so I was happy anywhere with Elaine.
My last move was to my beloved Isle of Wight and Cowes.... I made it my friends, I only went and made it!! (Which last year when we couldn't sell really worried Elaine as she was always aware of my age) But there you go, I ended my adventures happy and calmly where I loved to holiday, what could be better.
Love you always and never ever behave my pals,
Doris the Lurcher xx
Footnote from Elaine:
I am broken and empty without my beautiful shadow. Doris was a velcro dog, albeit a defiantly independent one!
She loved people, our family and generally doing everything we did. We took her everywhere over land and sea. She opened up new opportunities for friends and gave so much love as a therapy dog for 10 years. She was very special and utterly irreplaceable, not to say we won't rescue again at some point!
Thank you for sharing her life x
