About the Ship Inn:
They first opened on 29th April 1568 and are on the south end of the sea front by the start of the Cleveland Way Walk along the hills.
There is a small car park but there is plenty of parking nearby and the walk to the Inn lets you enjoy the beach front.

Facilities:
As you enter the Inn the door on the left leads you to the first area of the restaurant.
On the walls there are plenty of pictures of ships and maritime over the years.
It was nice very pleasant and very clean considering there is a beach and frequented often by dogs that have enjoyed the water as well as the beach.
The staff are very friendly and zoom around making sure all visitors are fed and watered.

Food:
The food, oh my dog the food, well I had a load of very happy humans around our table.
I would class the food as traditional and home cooked, very tasty.
The peas tasted freshly picked too.
From ordering to receiving seemed to be very quick considering it was very busy. I had 5 humans with me and their meals all arrived at the same time.
The portions were HUGE which was great for me as I got to polish off the leftovers (steak n ale pie and corned beef pie)  yummy !!
The prices were very reasonable and the quality was definitely 5 paws out of 5 for flavour.

Dog access:
Dogs are allowed in the first area of the restaurant area. Although if you do like I did and walk through to the next area, they do not get angry or unfriendly.
The staff panic a little bit but politely directed me back to the first area BOL !!
We are not allowed on the seats, which I agree with.
It is a bit of a smaller area than the second area and can get a bit of a juggle to get to some seats when busy but it adds to the charm and character of the place.
when I visited there were at least 3 other dogs and there were no grumblings or problems from any dog or human.

Access:
There are no steps and only one door to go through inside.
As the Inn was built around 1568 wheelchair access was not on the builders minds at the time so there may need to be a bit of checking involved if you have a human in a wheelchair with you.
The second area is much more open and apart from a few tables near the rear that are on a raised area, wheelchair access would be much easier.

My feedback for the Inn:
Get a bigger sign to say 'No dogs past this point' as I didn't mean to enter the 'not allowed' area BOL !
Thank you for the great food and very friendly welcome.

Overall Review:
I will definitely visit again next time I visit the area.
5 paws out of 5 rating
