Lucy and Nelson - On the Move
July 2024

Hola Amigos/woof hello Buddies,
We are back again and checking in with all our Furry Amigos.

Ashley suggested we bark about dealing with the heat of summer. That is a barktastic idea! As Spanish dogs living in southern Spain we are woofperts on this topic. Even though we are used to a warmer climate than out amigos in the UK, we still need to be careful.

Tip 1, Tell tell your hooman to keep an eye on your water bowl as you will drink more and it is important that the bowl not only stays full, but the water never gets warm.

Tip 2. The ground gets hot in summer so tell your hooman can they walk bear pawed (no woof wait Nelson says hoomans have feet not paws silly Hoomans ) for about 8 seconds and not feel like their feet are on fire. Check different surfaces as they heat up differently too.

Tip 3. Avoid walkies in the height of the day when it is the warmest and too hot.

Nelson suggests early morning walkies and late night walkies. Another benefit of us going out at theose times is that wildlife also avoid the hottest times and we get to see plenty of snakes, tortoises and even spotted kestrel recently on one of our evening walks

Our Hoomans in the height of summer have been know to take us out at like 23:00 (think that was the time , I don’t do time, beyond its walkies time , dinner time and sleep time oh and Playtime and Wrestling with Nelson time )

There are our 3 tips to help keep you cool in the summer. We might have more but that is a few simple good ones for now.
So remember to keep cool amigos and enjoy the summer safely. If you know of any tips, let us know.

Next month we will be covering pet related moving tips, so if you are moving soon, send in your questions.

Until next time
Lucy and Nelson
