So Bae Ceredigion, Cardigan Bay pals, a sweeping bay stretching up the west coast of Wales.

The A487 runs all the way up and so, we thought, would be the perfect drive for a bit of scenery.
What we didn't allow for was thick fog! A slow, murky 3 hours of stressful motoring and we didn't see a thing. Thankfully we had planned a few days in Aberaeron.
When Elaine rang to book, explaining our driving about, the woman said, with surprise 'and you want to come here?' Er yes... And why not, it's a pretty seaside town of multicoloured cottages with a harbour and river.

Aberaeron is in fact Welsh for mouth of the Aeron. It's a super little place with many dog friendly establishments and is on the Welsh Coast Path. The sea is a tad seaweedy for my liking but the famous honey ice cream more than makes up for this.
Heading ever northwards our next seaside treat was the Victorian town of Barmouth. I'm sure some would argue there are more picturesque places to visit but we like unapologetic tourist charm.

Amusements, fish and chips and tat shops (although the ones in church buildings were somewhat incongruous!) The beach is fabulous and the pubs very dog friendly. One, The Royal, even had dog blankets.
So another 3 nights here in blissful sunshine and I have to say I was jolly well enjoying Wales.
