Peachy

Tell me a little bit about yourself.
I am Peachey. My racing name was Minglers Peach. I only ran 5 races in Waterford and came first in 2 of them. I retired in July 2009 when I was only 1yr 8months old. My current vetman thinks it might be because I went head over heels and damaged my neck because I have a broken vertebra in it. I eventually ended up in Oxford and from there went to RGT Wolverhampton where I met my friend Skippy and what was to become my hudad. I am 9 in November. When I went to live in my nice home, I went with Skippy. I was very nervous so hudad thought that I would settle down better with Skippy as he was my best friend and we liked to play together. Unfortunately Skippy got cancer and died after only 7 months in our new home. Still he had had a happy time and a lovely comfy home to live in.

How many humans/siblings do you have and long have you had them?
I live with my hudad. He has been very patient with me as I got used to meeting people I didn’t know. Some of them frightened me, even though they didn’t try to hurt me. It has taken me 3 years to come out of my shell but I am a happy girl now and like hudad to fuss me. I also live with Digger, who came to replace Skippy to keep me company. He is OK but he is a bit clumsy so I have to put him in his place when he gets too boisterous playing with his monkey. Sometimes he pinches my octopus, but not for long.

Do you work? If so where/what do you do?
No, I live a life of leisure. I go out for walks as long as it isn’t raining and I have to have my coat on.

If you could choose your name what would it be?
I am quite happy being called Peachey but hudad often calls me Scampy. I don’t know why but it seems to be when I have been rescuing things off the table that appear to have been forgotten.

What is your favourite food?
Ooh, that is a difficult one. I like most food except fruit. I think that roast lamb is my favourite. When hudad has it for his dinner I am never far away in the hope the leg of lamb will fall off the plate and need tidying up.

Where is your favourite place to be?
Apart from my bed in the corner of the dining room, I think my favourite place is the tweetup that we have on Cannock Chase every month. I meet all my pals and we have good bum sniffings whilst we are waiting to start our walk. We like to do knitting with our leads too. Afterwards we always have sossidges and usually other treats like chicken or liver cake, chewy sticks and gravy bones and things.

What is your favourite way to entertain yourself (annoy your humans)?
I like to find exciting-smelling wrappers and shred them all up in the hope there is something nice inside. Then I like to spread myself out in front of dad’s chair so he can’t get in it when he comes back.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
I think finding a whole pack of cocktail sossidges in the hedge on one of my evening walks. I managed to eat them all before Digger found out I had them.

What is your next goal in life?
To see if I can capture a whole roasted leg of lamb and scoff it before Dad finds out.

If you could be/do anything for a day, what would it be?
I think I would find out what the winning lottery numbers are going to be, get Dad to buy the winning ticket and spend it all on rescuing galgos, greyhounds and podencos and giving them all nice comfy homes.

Finally and most importantly...What was your human’s most embarrassing moment?
I don’t think he’s had one since I came to live with him ‘cos I try to look after him.
