The Scratching Post
July 2023

Hello Furriends.
We hope all of you are staying cool this summer…or staying warm this winter (wherever you are).
We have some bad news, and may as well get it over with.

We mentioned last month that our CheezIt was sick. We found out at the very end of April that he had very early kidney disease. He had a week of treatments at the vet. His kidney values remained extremely low. Momma began giving him fluids at home every day, and brought him to the vet three days a week for treatments in hopes of maintaining low numbers. After almost three weeks, Momma wasn’t sure that CheezIt was doing well at all. So, she had more bloodwork done, and, sure enough, his kidney values had went up considerably.

Eventually he stopped eating (which is completely unheard of), and got too weak. That is almost identical to what happened to Yoda.
We were all so shocked, and upset, and sad because all of this happened in one whole month.
So, we no longer have our CheezIt with us. We have had a very difficult time around here the last few months.

But, we want everyone to remember that no matter how sad you are when you lose a “pet”, it’s important to not let your heart get hard.
There is always room in your heart for more love.

Whenever another kitty comes into Momma’s life, she feels that it was sent to her by one of her angel kitties (whether it be Nugget, or Yoda, etc). Also, Momma says to trust yourself when you feel something is wrong with your pet!
The vet didn’t recommend more bloodwork for CheezIt. Momma did because she knew something was still not right.
Vets and techs are the professionals. But, you still should know your baby better than anyone.
So trust yourself.

Hopefully next month is better here for us!
Til Next Month,
