The Scratching Post
November 2025
Hello Everypawdy!
This month is Catsgiving here. Well, humans call it Thanksgiving. But, lucky for us, we’re not one of them.
We hate to admit it, but we are thankful for Stetson…because he almost wasn’t a part of our home or family!
Mom took him to be neutered last month (oh my), and he was already microchipped to someone (oh no)! So the Humane Society called the chip company, and his owner went to pick him up. But they said she didn’t seem very thrilled to see him. He just lives at one of her properties, probably to catch mousies. She even had the nerve to call him tubby (how rude). So, he wasn’t a loved family pet, just worker cat.
The employees seemed very much to rather have him live with Mom and us. So, they said if he found his way to us once, he probably will again. It took Stetson four days…but he found his way back to us! He was at our patio door on a Friday night at 12:45am. Mom was so happy to roll over and see him (she had been sleeping on the living room floor all week). Carlito was happy too, and went right over to him. Stetson went right for the food bowl, as he always would do when he was visiting. He has not left the house since…and he will never leave again!
It’s scary when someone leaves in the box and doesn’t come back! You never know what happened to them. It makes you afraid to go in that thing when the humans try to put you in there. YOU might not come back.
So we are thankful this Catsgiving Stetson came back to us because we know he will be loved and well cared for here with Mom, and he and Carlito can be friends forever. He bugs the rest of us to play, and it is fun (most of the time). We’re just not used to being pounced on out of nowhere like that. It’s rather startling.
Til Next Month,
All of Us
(not Stetson or Carlito)
